Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
5 laugh-out-loud stars
Can we just take a moment to start out on something that is slightly bothering me…. Ilona darling, honey… this cover…. I almost didn’t read it solely on that. I know I am an ass hole, whatever. That being said, NOW I will always and forever be a fan.
And those who love us most lie to us most of all, because life is a bumpy ride and they want to smooth it out as much as possible.
How is it that I have yet to pick up a book from this dazzling duo? Seriously the inner dialogue from Nevada was so freaking funny! I was a grinning fool throughout this book.
My mother carried a shotgun. Grandma Frida carried her phone.
I looked at the flowers, looked at his face, and shut the door. No, wait. I opened the door, took the carnations from him, shut the door, and locked it.
The entire world Ilona and Andrew created is intertwined with magic, fantasy, politics and military. Her writing is Amazing. Her characters are likable, down-to-earth and funny! At first I was slightly confused with Nevada and Mad Rogan, he seemed like a jerk in the prologue. He came around and I actually liked him, a little forward but I totally had a small crush on that rich military brat.
